Job Role

Senior Analyst – Reporting and Analytics

Purpose of the role: We are seeking a passionate Senior Analyst with a commercial sense and a true passion for data and analytics. You do not just extract and provide data. You analyse data and deliver easy to use self-serve reports to support key strategic initiatives of different business functions within Neilson.

You will have a strong technical background as a Data Analyst in SQL scripting and building self-serve dashboards (we use Power BI). You will be comfortable operating in an unstructured environment.

Projects could be small or large, and examples might be - producing a suite of scalable reports for different business functions, looking at opportunities of growth across existing brands, or launching and supporting test and learning programmes in marketing and operations.

What you will be working on

  • You will work to set up and maintain reports and dashboards using SQL and Power BI to assess KPIs on growth and profitability across our brands, products, and channels
  • You will run ad-hoc analysis when required and deliver one-time insights over Excel reports.
  • You will work closely with the Head of BI to drive the Analytics Roadmap and deliver projects to a high standard
  • You will be responsible for making data available to internal and external stakeholders in a digestible form. This includes partnering with the BI Data team to design appropriate ETL processes that align with BI data warehousing architecture
  • You will support modelling by partnering with the Data and Decision Science functions within BI to provide meaningful inputs for forecasting and modelling projects

What you will need to be successful

  • Minimum 4 years experience in a similar role
  • You have worked in a collaborative manner with Analysts within a Business Intelligence or Analytics Team
  • You are a smart, strategic thinker who is great at solving problems (not just ones that involve numbers), able to execute against tight deadlines in a fast-moving start-up
  • You have advanced SQL and understanding of DB architectures. You can write efficient code that will fit the needs of a significantly larger business in 3 years from now. You know the principles of building a self-serve dashboard (we use Power BI) and have advanced Excel skills.
  • You can think outside the box, both for technical development and for visual dashboarding
  • You have experience planning and driving long term projects in a fast-moving and rapidly changing environment.
  • You have good stakeholder management skills across a variety of different levels of seniority. You can prioritise a long list of requests into a work plan, manage your time and stakeholder expectations accordingly.
  • You have a team-centric outlook, your work is part of the team’s overall plan. You are happy to contribute on individual projects or support others with theirs

Salary: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
